4 April 2017 — Give me a moment to clarify today’s headline…You may recall that after the season finals in Aspen a couple weeks ago, FIS World Cup announced that they were pulling that resort’s next scheduled race date due to an antiquated lift and decaying facilities. SkiCo countered with talk of tradition, great attendance, new lifts and improvements planned, blah blah blah. Reality is they kind of have their hands tied in the permitting process for that lift, so the glitterati of Aspen town will be minus a World Cup race this coming November. Hot on the heels of Killington‘s recent success with the first eastern US World Cup race in decades, rumors were swirling that November’s event would be given to the Big K. Well score one for Powdr Corp; it appears to be a done deal. So with apologies to Karen and Richard Carpenter, World Cup action is headed back to Superstar sooner rather than later. (That’s the name of a song, and the Kmart trail they race on. Sorry, can’t help it)…back tomorrow with regular news…
