Midweek News Roundup

That’s Granite Peak WI where Shreddy Teddy was testing the pow yesterday afternoon…BOOM is all I can say about Washington State; Summit at Snoqualmie buried under 50 some inches of snow and I-90 is closed below the pass. Summit was shut down yesterday, they’re still on standby this morning, hoping the road opens. If you can get there, wow. And it’s still snowing…Caberfae Peaks MI checks in with 13″…elsewhere in the midwest, Paoli Peaks IN sez they’re reopening at noon today, they were shuttered yesterday for rain…not as much as hoped for in New England, Mount Snow VT got 6-8″…Moving down the road from Sneaux, more shenanigans from The Hermitage Club, which is operating (in a manner of speaking) the former Haystack Mountain in Wilmington VT. Seems that a whistleblower employee who was canned back in 2017 has been awarded $40k by the Department of Labor. Harper Sibley, president of the Hermitage Club since August, said the club takes the DOL’s findings seriously and is prepared to pay the fine. Meanwhile, Hermitage Club founder and CEO Jim Barnes says it’s false and is appealling the fine. I can’t figure this place out…Tragic news from Snowmass Colorado this past Sunday, 20-year-old boarder Tyler Hamm of Aspen died while attempting a jump in Makaha Terrain Park. Pitkin County Deputy Coroner Eric Hansen said that Hamm was not wearing a helmet…also Sunday 68-year-old Bruce Charron of West Montreal, Quebec, died following a crash at Jay Peak. Charron, a long time passholder who was well known in the Jay community, apparently crashed into trees after a pre-release…and one more Sunday, this time at Blue Mountain PA, a 21-year-old skier died, name not released. Blue spokeswoman Tricia Matsko sez the skier fell after going over a jump on a beginner trail. Not sure why you have jumps on a beginner trail, but ok…we’ll leave on a more positive note, here’s a look at Crystal Mountain WA, not quite as much fluff as Summit/Alpental but darn sure enough to bring out the powder hounds, shown here waiting for the lift to spin this morning…
