Well the whole “name the snowstorm” thing seems odd, but I suppose if you think it through it kind of makes sense. Instead of “Remember that storm back in January?” (which generally results in some head-scratching) we can say things like “That them there Harper was a wicked storm,” and perhaps it helps with insurance claims. So, maybe it’s not as absurd as I originally thought…Vermont’s semi-troubled Jay Peak is now officially for sale; it’s been managed by some court-appointed trustee who appears to have done a darn fine job of running things. When I say “troubled” it’s more perception than anything else; there’s nothing wrong with the resort, but the previous owner was involved in some sort of EB-5 imbroglio…Some Colorado personnel moves…Purgatory Resort has named Dave Rathbun as its new GM. Rathbun started out as a liftie at Stratton VT years ago, and has since been in various positions at resorts across the country, longest tenure was president and GM at Mt Bachelor OR for about eight years…Aspen Skiing Co. veteran Susan Cross is now their GM at Snowmass replacing the recently retired Steve Sewell, who toiled for SkiCo for some 42 years…Speaking of Purgatory, that’s our photo above, taken this morning at the village express base…Peak Resorts has declared a dividend of seven cents per share. Considering the anemic price of the stock, it works out to a yield of just under six percent…
