Southwest Season Set to Launch

A spate of storms through the southern Rockies has a number of resorts lined up to join the fun; Wolf Creek Colorado expects to spin tomorrow for trick or treaters, running Nova chair and a carpet from 10 AM – 4 PM with $31 tix for ages 6+. Monarch Mountain will be opening a trio of lifts and some twenty trails, all on natural snow! They kick it off Friday with their earliest opening in the past half century. Can I get an amen…continuing with the southwest, down in New Mexico, snow has also got folks excited and Taos is calling for a Thanksgiving Day opening…elsewhere in Colorado, though not really the southwest, Winter Park sez they’re ready to go this Saturday. “Mother Nature brought the snow especially early this year, so we are taking advantage of the conditions and are excited to open the mountain more than a week earlier than expected,” sez Liz Agostin, marketing director at WP…Summit County free-heelers and the earn-your-turns crowd invited to the annual uphill access meeting and info event at Breckenridge, that’s next Tuesday night Nov 5 at the resort…now up to Minnesota, Wild Mountain making it stick, they kicked it off earlier this week and snowguns are still pumping, the groomers are pushing it around, and two rope tows are spinning as I type this…New Englanders still waiting for some chilly air to arrive, especially in Killington where they need to host a World Cup event just one month from now. Kmart management not fretting yet, and they’re facing the season with a new chair up on the North Ridge, what we used to call the Glades chair…
