Checking in with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, that’s their photo above, looking at four feet of fresh in the past three days. No complaints from Western Wyoming…turning east, mountain ops had their hands full this morning at Mount Snow VT, climbing towers to knock ice off while waiting out wind holds…move north a bit and Bromley also dealing with wind holds…If your present job doesn’t provide enough challenge for ya, go file an application at any mountain in New England…wind and ice conspired to bend in half the massive cell tower on top of Sugarloaf ME. It looks like some kind of post-apocalyptic horror movie scene…Borg continues to assimilate; Australian ski resorts Falls Creek and Hotham are the latest. Vail Resorts Inc. has agreed to acquire the pair from Living and Leisure Australia Group for the equivalent of $124 million US. They’re hoping to finalize everything prior to June…fatality reports trickling in from the weekend…at Winter Park CO, apparently a 62-year-old helmeted skier passed away somewhere on the Jane Saturday morning…and in Oregon, a 42-year-old male did the tree well thing at Timberline Lodge Saturday…most tragic of all, a 9-year-old boy from Carlisle, Massachusetts, died last Tuesday after hitting a tree at Big Sky Resort. He was reported missing near the junction of Middle Road and Lobo trails, and shortly afterward was found dead from blunt force trauma…so we’ll wrap up today on better news; 6-year-old girl fell some 30-40 feet off the Sundance Double at Eldora Mountain Resort CO Sunday, somehow survived and should fully recover. That is one of those older Colorado lifts that doesn’t have a safety bar — I’m always leery of small children riding those. Glad she’ll be fine.
Ah the weather.
