As you can see they’re serving up some seriously fabulous conditions…big news at Mt Rose Nevada; Forest Service sez they can expand into 112-acres that will add eleven trails, two chairs, snowmaking tank area, and a skier bridge across the highway. They have to deal with a 45 day objection period but that is limited to previous objectors. Or something like that…fresh snow doing the same where it’s needed most…Snowbird UT has been grabbing the goods all along, finally tallying enough that they’re in the 90% open range…Grand Targhee WY tallying 4 1/2 feet in the past week…that translates to about 6″ this morning at Mad River Mountain OH. Hey it ain’t western stuff, it ain’t even New England stuff, but they’ll gladly take it…good news up in New Hampshire, Waterville Valley has their new upper t-bar open, ribbon cutting this past weekend. This lift services what they call high country or something like that; used to have a double chair that was plagued by wind and other ailments…if you happened to catch the white circus Stockholm City Event earlier this week, you probably weren’t surprised by Mikaela Shiffrin‘s victory on the women’s side, but you might’ve heard the name Ramon Zenhaeusern and said “who?” Zenhaeusern — spelling not guaranteed — is a Swiss tech skier who stands well over 6′ and is the ultimate dual slalom skier. He’s won this event before, and is the same guy who put the Swiss over the top in the team event…shout out to Jay Peak VT, just debuted a new progression park for the little kids, cute as heck and great for the kids.
