A few reports coming in of additional areas that spun lifts this past weekend; quite a few in the upper midwest and I have to admit keeping track of all these smaller Michigan resorts is a bit like trying to nail jello to a tree…Mt. Holly Resort was open, they shut down for the week and hope to reopen Friday, just in time for their weekend ski swap — so they will be rocking in Holly this weekend. Photo above shows a peek up the Woodward slope, and as long as the temps hold they ought to be able to spin that lift as planned…Alpine Valley in White Lake MI also opened, also shuttered for the week, also looks real good for reopening…we previously reported on Bittersweet in Otsego, they’re indeed open afternoons with $20 tix…Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville — not to be confused with Crystal Resort in Washington State — has fired up their fan guns and their coverage is looking pretty good. I expect them to spin Thanksgiving weekend and it should be a sizable percentage of their terrain…now we gotta talk about knobs…Pine Knob down in Oakland County was also open this past weekend, they’re looking to ramp it up again on Friday…Nub’s Nob gonna kick off the season this weekend, they’ll be spinning the Green and Purple chairlift with the Sno Pro, Smooth Sailing and Big Time runs open…Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain has some snow, made some snow. That’s another one I’m expecting for Turkey Day, but who knows they could make a run at this weekend…meanwhile on the UP, Big Powderhorn in Bessemer is getting the natural stuff; they’re targeting a December 15 opener…over in Wakefield, Indian Head slated to open November 24th, while sister area Blackjack is another mid-December starter…Porkies and Bohemia looking for more stuff to fall from the sky.
