3/2/17 — Throwback Thursday Style

2 March 2017 — Photo above courtesy Seven Springs Resort PA. Not exactly a throwback place; they’re about as modern as it gets. But they’re promising to relive the days of dayglo romper suits, RayBan shades, and big hair with Throwback Weekend kicking off tomorrow…throwback Mad River Glen VT closed today, conditions on the mountain are absolutely horrid, except for the fact that it is snowing nicely…turn north and throwback Bolton Valley VT closed upper mountain for wind hold, they’re selling cheap tix today and serving up a lower mountain chair…further north, bigtime throwback Smuggler’s Notch VT delaying some operations for up to 90 minutes this morning so they can get the grooming fleet to touch things up…and final Vermont today, I promise, throwback of throwbacks Suicide Six hosting Special Olympics this weekend, kudos to them…lot of resorts closed in Virginia, the Carolinas, Ohio; we’ll try to gather up a report for tomorrow…sort-of throwback Anthony Lakes OR skiing on 14″ of fresh powder today; they’re gearing up for Snow Blast weekend with the usual dummy downhill, fireworks, and a bunch of other events. They’ve got more snow headed their way; in fact just about anywhere in the Pac NW and Sierras is likely to be buried this weekend…midwest throwback Caberfae MI got a nice snowfall yesterday, serving up the best you could hope for all things considered…and my personal fave throwback, small but mighty Ski Cooper in Colorado, absolutely incredible conditions right now; powder on demand. Do yourself a favor, when you’re planning a trip add in one of the throwbacks, unless you’re a full blown hotshot or tried and true “city mouse” I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
