5 January 2017 — Shout out to Buckmans, a Philly area chain of ski shops, havin’ a little fun and forwarded to us by ski bum and regular reader Dave Duma…now one might think our LDS readers might be put off by that, but knowing my friends and family in the LDS community, I think they’ll get a chuckle…especially my buddy Dalton Jones who is probably enjoying the 8″ of fresh that Snowbasin UT received overnight. Right now Snowbasin has everything open but the Wildcat lift; as long as the weather is good they really don’t need that one. But if you ever head that way with wind, snow, etc. the Wilcat lift is something you’ll want to keep in mind…glad to report that Suicide Six Vermont is now spinning their new summit chair! You may recall that S6 had a huge problem with their chair last season, so they banged it up and replaced it with a new Leitner-Poma fixed grip quad. And if you’re wondering why this is significant, it’s because Suicide Six was started by Wallace “Bunny” Bertram in 1936, just down the road from Gilbert’s Hill, where he built the first ski tow in the USA in 1934.
