11/9/17 Adding a Bunch to the Open List

Vail Resorts properties Breckenridge and Keystone will spin the lifts tomorrow, free donuts and whatnot. Photo above shows the base of Breck Peak 8 this morning; it may not be fabulous but it’s skiing….up in Steamboat Springs, CO the city council is weighing $1 (one dollar) lift tix for its Howelsen Hill recreation complex slopes. Now damn, that ought to get more bodies on the hill. Window price at Steamboat (resort) this season will be around $120…Maine’s giant Sugarloaf, one of the Boyne Resorts properties, has announced that they’ll spin the lifts this Sunday with their usual Tote Road route. Sister resort Sunday River was originally planning some sort of up-and-down load deal, but now it looks as if they’ll be doing a top-to-bottom thing on the Locke Mountain triple, that’s a lift that spins out of the Barker base. I’m not 100% sure on that…speaking of up-and-down loading, Okemo VT set to open this weekend as reported yesterday, now saying just may be top-to-bottom. The guns went on Lower World Cup today…Bromley VT has announced Nov 24, the Friday after Thanksgiving as their targeted opener. They normally just run weekends for a couple weeks after that, ramping up to full time in mid December or thereabouts…I don’t usually like to tout deals and passes and such, BUT avid New York metro area skiers ought to take a second look at the MAX Pass before the season zips by. Again I say “avid” because if you only ski a handful of times it ain’t worth it. But if you can get in 20+ days between Mountain Creek, Belleayre, Windham, Gore, Killington & Stratton, it works out to about $35 per ticket. Can’t beat that…speaking of Gore, snowguns just went on…
